Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Optional: powdered sugar or glaze for topping

Instructions

Preheat oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.

Mix dry ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir well.

Combine wet ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk melted butter, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla until smooth.

Add wet to dry

  • Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in apples

  • Add diced apples to the batter. Mix carefully to evenly distribute them without crushing.

Prepare cinnamon swirl

  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

Layer the batter

  • Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle half of cinnamon-sugar mixture. Add remaining batter. Top with remaining cinnamon-sugar.

Bake the bread

  • Place pan in preheated oven. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool before slicing

  • Allow bread to cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

Optional topping

  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle glaze on top before serving.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced flavor.
  • Mix half white sugar, half brown sugar for deeper sweetness.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg for extra warmth.
  • For a glaze, mix powdered sugar with 1–2 teaspoons milk.
  • Avoid overbaking; bread should be moist and tender.
  • Swap milk for buttermilk for a richer taste.
