Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg optional
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Melt the butter

  • Place butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir gently until fully melted. Do not let it brown.

Add minced garlic

  • Add garlic to the melted butter. Cook for one minute. Keep stirring to prevent burning.

Pour in heavy cream

  • Slowly add heavy cream while whisking. Heat gently until the mixture starts to simmer.

Add Parmesan cheese

  • Gradually add grated Parmesan cheese. Whisk continuously until cheese melts completely.

Season with salt and pepper

  • Add salt, black pepper and a pinch of nutmeg if desired. Taste and adjust seasoning.

Simmer gently

  • Reduce heat to low. Let sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes. Stir constantly for smooth texture.

Finish with parsley

  • Remove from heat. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top for freshness and color.

Serve immediately

  • Toss sauce with cooked pasta or use as topping for chicken, shrimp or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor. Pre-grated cheese may not melt smoothly.
  • Avoid boiling the cream; high heat can separate the sauce.
  • Add cooked chicken, shrimp, or mushrooms for a complete meal.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Stir constantly to prevent lumps and ensure a creamy consistency.
