Ingredients
  

  • 1 large head iceberg lettuce finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Provel cheese shredded (or Provolone-Cheddar-Swiss mix)
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely sliced
  • 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes halved (optional)

For the Dressing:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
  

Prepare the Lettuce

  • Wash iceberg lettuce thoroughly. Pat dry completely and chop finely into small bite-sized pieces.

Slice the Onion

  • Thinly slice red onion. Soak in cold water for five minutes to reduce sharp flavor.

Make the Dressing

  • In a small bowl, whisk olive oil, vinegar, sugar, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Combine Salad Base

  • Place chopped lettuce into a large bowl. Add drained onions and optional cherry tomatoes.

Add the Cheese

  • Sprinkle shredded Provel cheese evenly over the lettuce mixture.

Toss with Dressing

  • Pour dressing over salad. Toss gently until lettuce is lightly coated.

Chill Before Serving

  • Refrigerate salad for 10 minutes before serving for extra crisp texture.
