Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts halved
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan extra
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish and set it aside.

Prepare Chicken

  • Slice chicken breasts into thin pieces. This helps them cook faster and stay juicy inside.

Set Up Breading Station

  • Prepare three bowls with flour, beaten eggs and breadcrumb mixture with parmesan and seasoning.

Coat the Chicken

  • Dip chicken in flour, then eggs, then breadcrumbs. Press gently so coating sticks well.

Fry the Chicken

  • Heat oil in a pan. Fry chicken until golden on both sides. Do not cook fully at this stage.

Arrange in Baking Dish

  • Place fried chicken in baking dish. Keep pieces slightly apart for even baking.

Add Sauce

  • Spoon marinara sauce over each piece. Cover lightly but do not soak completely.

Add Cheese

  • Sprinkle mozzarella and extra parmesan on top. This creates a cheesy, golden crust.

Bake the Dish

  • Bake for 20 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Joanna Gaines chicken parmesan recipe with pasta or salad.

Notes

  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch
  • Add fresh basil for more flavor
  • Use chicken thighs for juicier meat
  • Bake instead of fry for a lighter option
  • Add chili flakes for a spicy kick
  • Use homemade marinara for better taste
  • Let chicken rest before serving
