Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

Cook the noodles

  • Boil lasagna noodles in salted water until soft. Drain and lay them flat to prevent sticking together.

Prepare the meat sauce

  • Heat olive oil in a pan. Cook onion, garlic and ground beef until browned and fully cooked through evenly.

Add sauce and seasoning

  • Pour marinara sauce into the meat mixture. Add salt, pepper and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes to blend flavors.

Mix cheese filling

  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg and half of parmesan. Stir until smooth and creamy for layering.

Preheat Dutch oven

  • Lightly grease the Dutch oven. This prevents sticking and helps the lasagna cook evenly without burning at the bottom.

Start layering

  • Add sauce, noodles, ricotta mix and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.

Bake the lasagna

  • Cover Dutch oven and bake at 180°C for about 45 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly on top.

Rest before serving

  • Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes. This helps layers set and makes slicing easier and cleaner.

Serve and enjoy

  • Garnish with fresh basil. Slice and serve warm for a rich, cheesy, comforting meal everyone will enjoy.

Notes

  • Use Italian sausage instead of beef for richer flavor
  • Add spinach for a healthy twist
  • Do not overcook noodles before baking
  • Use fresh mozzarella for better melting
  • Let lasagna rest before cutting
  • Add chili flakes for a spicy version
