Ingredients
  

  • 2 large onions finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions
  

Caramelize Onions

  • In a skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onions, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook 20–25 minutes until golden and soft.

Cool Onions

  • Remove onions from heat and let them cool slightly.

Mix Base

  • In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice.

Add Onions

  • Stir caramelized onions into the cream mixture until fully combined.

Chill Dip

  • Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour for flavors to meld.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste dip and adjust salt or lemon juice if needed.

Garnish

  • Sprinkle chopped chives or parsley on top for garnish.

Serve
