Materials

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

Activate the yeast

  • Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes foamy and active.

Prepare dry ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix well so everything is evenly distributed before adding wet ingredients.

Make the dough

  • Add yeast mixture and olive oil into flour. Stir until a rough dough starts forming and pulling together.

Knead the dough

  • Place dough on a clean surface. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth, elastic, and soft to touch.

Let it rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.

Punch and divide

  • Gently punch down dough to remove air. Divide into two equal portions for medium-sized pizzas.

Roll the dough

  • Roll dough into circles using a rolling pin. Adjust thickness depending on your pizza style preference.

Ready for baking

  • Place dough on tray, add toppings and bake at high heat until golden and crispy on edges.

Notes

  • Use bread flour for chewier crust
  • Add garlic powder for extra flavor
  • Brush edges with olive oil before baking
  • Let dough rest longer for softer texture
  • Use honey instead of sugar for slight sweetness
  • Freeze dough for future use
  • Pre-bake crust for extra crispiness
