Ingredients

  • 2 cans baked beans
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Preheat oven

  • Set oven to 180°C or 350°F. This ensures even baking and proper texture.

Cook bacon

  • Fry chopped bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and set aside for later use.

Cook beef

  • In the same skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Break it into small pieces.

Add onion

  • Add chopped onion to beef. Cook until soft and slightly golden for extra flavor.

Mix base ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine baked beans, BBQ sauce, ketchup and mustard together.

Add seasonings

  • Stir in brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix until fully combined.

Combine meat

  • Add cooked bacon and beef mixture into beans. Stir gently but thoroughly.

Transfer to dish

  • Pour mixture into baking dish. Spread evenly for consistent cooking.

Bake beans

  • Bake for 45–60 minutes until thick, bubbly, and slightly caramelized on top.

Rest before serving

  • Let beans rest for 10 minutes. This helps flavors settle and thicken sauce.

Notes

  • Use smoked bacon for stronger flavor.
  • Add jalapeños for spicy kick.
  • Use maple syrup instead of brown sugar for twist.
  • Add sausage for richer texture.
  • Slow cook instead of baking for deeper flavor.
