Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for garnish optional

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Place the pie crust in a pie dish and set aside.

Mix Sugar and Eggs

  • In a bowl, whisk sugar and eggs until smooth and slightly creamy. This forms the base of the filling.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • Pour in melted butter, buttermilk, vanilla extract and lemon juice. Mix until well combined.

Add Dry Ingredients

  • Add flour and salt. Stir gently until the mixture becomes smooth and lump-free.

Fill the Crust

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust. Spread evenly using a spatula if needed.

Bake the Pie

  • Bake for 45–50 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set but slightly soft.

Cool the Pie

  • Remove from oven and let it cool completely. The filling will firm up as it cools.

Slice and Serve

  • Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Slice and serve for a sweet and creamy dessert.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing
  • Do not overbake to keep filling soft
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor
  • Use homemade pie crust for best results
  • Chill before serving for clean slices
  • Add coconut flakes for variation
  • Serve with whipped cream for extra richness
