Instructions
Boil the Pasta
Fill a large pot with water and add salt. Bring to a boil. Cook fettuccine according to package instructions.
Drain the Pasta
Once the pasta becomes tender, drain it using a colander. Reserve a small cup of pasta water for later use.
Melt the Butter
Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and let it melt slowly until it becomes smooth.
Cook the Garlic
Add minced garlic to the melted butter. Cook for one minute while stirring gently to release the aroma.
Add the Cream
Pour heavy cream into the skillet. Stir well and let the mixture simmer gently for about three minutes.
Season the Sauce
Add salt, black pepper and optional nutmeg. Stir well to combine all flavors in the creamy sauce.
Add the Cheese
Slowly add grated parmesan cheese into the sauce. Stir constantly until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens.
Add the Cooked Pasta
Place the cooked fettuccine into the sauce. Toss gently so every strand becomes coated in creamy Alfredo sauce.
Adjust the Sauce
If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water. Stir until the sauce becomes smooth.
Taste the Dish
Taste the pasta and adjust seasoning if needed. Add more cheese or pepper according to preference.
Garnish the Pasta
Sprinkle chopped parsley on top for freshness and color. This also adds a light herbal flavor.
Serve Immediately
Serve the pasta warm in bowls. Enjoy this creamy comfort dish with family or guests.
Notes
Use freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor.
Do not boil the sauce. Gentle simmering keeps it smooth.
Add grilled chicken for a protein-rich meal.
Shrimp also pairs beautifully with Alfredo sauce.
Add mushrooms or spinach for extra vegetables.
Use half-and-half for a lighter sauce option.
Always toss pasta in sauce while hot for best texture.
