Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh peaches sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
  

Prepare the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Pour melted butter into the baking dish evenly.

Prepare the Peaches

  • Mix sliced peaches with half cup sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon until coated well.

Make the Batter

  • In a bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, salt, milk and vanilla until smooth.

Pour the Batter

  • Pour batter carefully over melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.

Add Peaches

  • Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir layers together.

Bake the Cobbler

  • Place dish in oven. Bake for forty minutes until golden brown on top.

Cool Slightly

  • Remove from oven and let cool for fifteen minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use canned peaches if fresh are not available. Drain well first.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for deeper spice flavor.
  • Sprinkle coarse sugar on top before baking for extra crunch.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for classic taste.
  • Add blueberries for mixed fruit cobbler.
  • Use self-rising flour if preferred. Skip baking powder then.
