Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

For the glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
  

Activate Yeast

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add sugar, melted butter, egg and salt. Whisk until well combined.

Add Flour

  • Gradually add flour. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes.

First Rise

  • Place dough in greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

Roll Dough

  • Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on floured surface. Cut with donut cutter.

Second Rise

  • Place donuts on tray. Cover lightly and let rise for 30 minutes.

Heat Oil

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Keep temperature steady for best frying results.

Fry Donuts

  • Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain.

Prepare Glaze

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth and slightly thick.

Glaze Donuts

  • Dip warm donuts into glaze. Place on rack and let glaze set. Serve fresh.
