Ingredients
  

For the Cake Layer

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cheesecake Layer

  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For Frosting

  • 1 cup whipped cream or frosting
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions
  

Prepare cheesecake layer

  • Mix cream cheese, sugar, eggs, vanilla and lemon juice. Pour into pan and bake until set.

Bake cheesecake

  • Bake at 160°C for 25–30 minutes. Let it cool completely, then chill in fridge.

Make cake batter

  • Mix butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, lemon juice and lemon zest.

Add dry ingredients

  • Add flour and baking powder slowly. Mix with milk until smooth cake batter forms.

Bake cake layers

  • Pour batter into pans. Bake at 180°C for 30–35 minutes until golden and cooked.

Cool cake layers

  • Let cake layers cool completely before assembling. This prevents melting and sliding.

Assemble cake

  • Place one cake layer, then add cheesecake layer, then top with second cake layer.

Add frosting

  • Spread whipped lemon frosting evenly on top and sides of the cake.

Chill before serving

  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This helps flavors blend and set properly.
